Fíorghael

Fiorgael

Ever get the feeling someone is talking about you?

Set in a Dublin psychiatrists' office, Fíorghael (Ultra Irish) is a short comedy film about language politics in modern Ireland.

When speaking English to the patients, Medbh is the model of friendly efficiency. But when she turns to Irish, she seems to unleash a torrent of Gaelic scorn against the three patients. Of course they haven't a word of Irish between them 'terrible teacher at school' and all that. And it is not long before they are reduced to a state of paranoia that is only compounded by Meabh's warm and helpful manner when she chooses to address them directly in English.
